Philips Medical Systems www.medical.philips.com Lausanne University Hospital www.chuv.ch Our Mission iMAXing s.à r.l. is a global provider of cost-effective, comprehensive imaging support in research studies and clinical trials to various companies and agencies. It provides support to pharmaceutical firms, biotechnology and medical device companies, Clinical Research Organizations (CROs), government, and academic research organizations. iMAXing's capable facility provides: protocol development, image archival, and analysis for a variety of modalities, specifically, Perfusion-Computed Tomography (PCT). What is perfusion-CT? Perfusion-CT was recently introduced as a simple imaging technique to implement in routine clinical practices. Perfusion-CT technique can be achieved in all hospital institutions equipped with CT units, available around the clock, 7 days a week. It necessitates neither specialized technologists nor additional material, but only a dedicated post-processing software. The software affords real-time post-processing, with a complete set of parametric maps typically generated within 5 minutes after completing data acquisition. Dynamic perfusion-CT involves dynamic acquisition of sequential CT slices on a cine mode during intravenous administration of iodinated contrast material. Dynamic perfusion-CT data analyzed according to the central volume principle provides the major advantage of assessing both cerebral blood flow and cerebral blood volume in a robust and reproducible quantitative way, hence allowing insight into cerebral vascular autoregulation and salvageable penumbra. These advantages make perfusion-CT as an ideal tool in the monitoring of drug effects on the ischemic brain in acute stroke patients. |
